Teacher Selection
In the Fall of 2010 Sultana Projects, the organization administering the “Roots of a Nation” initiative will work with superintendents and social studies coordinators from the seven participating counties to select five participating teachers from each county to form a core of 35 “Master Teachers” for the “Root of a Nation” program. Master Teachers selected to participate in the “Roots of a Nation” program will do so with the understanding that they will participate in at least four unique seminars each year, or a total of 12 of the 15 seminars during the three years of the program. In addition to ongoing seminars, all participating teachers will attend an annual two-day conference each fall. As space permits, history teachers from the seven participating counties who are not part of the core group of 35 Master Teachers will be permitted to audit “Roots of a Nation” seminars. If you are a history teacher from one of the seven participating counties in the “Roots of a Nation” program and would like to learn more about participating in these seminars, please contact Chris Cerino, Vice President of Sultana Projects at ccerino@sultanaprojects.org or 410-778-5954.
