Shipyard Programs

Sultana Projects' shipyard programs are a fun, hands-on way to immerse your students in maritime history. During their visit to the Sultana Shipyard, students rotate through different stations where they learn about shipbuilding trades and techniques with Sultana's educational staff. Young visitors might get a crack at mallet and chisel on our caulking wall, take up an oyster shell to burn and scrape a canoe, Native American-style, or see a vessel being crafted by our master shipwrights.  Shipyard programs can be
combined with a sail on the schooner Sultana or a walking tour of
Chestertown.
